Mission

The Chemical Carcinogenesis Section uses experimental models to elucidate the mechanisms of carcinogenesis of environmental chemical carcinogens. The focus of the research in the section is on the food-derived heterocyclic amines and the mammary gland as a target site for carcinogenesis.

Current Areas of Research

  • DNA adduct formation and mutagenesis in the mammary gland
  • Early cellular/molecular events in PhIP-induced mammary gland carcinogenesis and cell transformation
  • Genomic alterations associated with PhIP-induced carcinogenesis
