Elizabeth Conner, Ph.D. -
Laboratory Manager
Dr.
Conner received her B.A. degree in biology from Western Maryland
College and her Ph.D. in Toxicology from the University of Maryland
Medical School where she studied biochemical mechanisms of cell injury
from toxic metals and the regulatory roles of high affinity metal
binding proteins in mediating cell injury. She began her career at
NIH in 1993 as a post doctoral fellow, focusing first on gene amplification
as an indicator of genomic instability. Later, she became interested
in the role of growth factor signaling in liver tumor development
and generated a transgenic mouse model overexpressing E2F1 and c-myc
in the liver. From 2001 Dr. Conner has served as the laboratory manager
and continues her research on the molecular pathogenesis of human
liver cancer using transgenic and knockout mouse models.
