Valentina Factor, Ph.D. -
Staff Scientist
 Dr. Factor received her Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Koltzov Institute
of Developmental Biology, Russian Academy of Sciences where she studied
hepatocyte polyploidization during liver differentiation. She then
moved to developing models of liver cancer and monoclonal antibodies
for detection of liver progenitor cells. Dr. Factor joined the Laboratory
of Experimental Carcinogenesis in 1992 as a Visiting Scientist and
was appointed a Staff Scientist in 2000. Her research is focused on
studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms of liver cancer development
and involvement of the hepatic stem cell compartment in liver regeneration
and oncogenesis.
